Community Development

Understanding communities, large and small, is an essential part of being a successful recreation professional. This course will examine composition and function of communities and will provide strategies to identify community needs to assist community growth. Course themes will include: concepts and principles of community development, introduction to the various levels of government, trends and issues, strategic planning, and facilitation.
