Working with Trauma and the Body: The Fundamentals of Somatic Therapy
Description
Contrary to popular belief, trauma is physiological in nature and can have a profound impact on functioning. Its influence on our physiology creates a variety of physical, psychological, emotional and behavioural symptoms that are often confusing and debilitating. Body-oriented modalities like Somatic Experiencing ® support people in releasing trauma that becomes stuck in the body, thereby transforming the wounds it creates. Somatic approaches offer relief from symptoms and improve overall well-being without requiring people to engage in long hours of therapy, relive painful memories and/or rely on medication.
