Indigenous Storytelling
Description
In this course, students will develop an awareness of Indigenous Storytelling as ceremony and as an act of decolonization. This course will be situated within an Indigenous worldview. This framework will provide students with a relational understanding of kinships and responsibilities between both traditional and contemporary Indigenous art forms and Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being. Learners will explore Indigenous Stories as a living tool of resistance of colonial erasure, literal grounding in the Earth (Shkagamik-Kwe) and as connections that extend generationally - to the ancestors and generations yet to come.
