Embracing Diversity: Creating Equitable Work Environments is a course designed to explore foundational principles, theories, and practical strategies for fostering inclusive environments within organizations, with a focus on Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs). This course examines the importance of EDI, theoretical frameworks for understanding diversity, strategies for creating inclusive organizational cultures, and methods for assessing and evaluating EDI initiatives.

Course Objectives:
 
  • To introduce Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives, highlighting their relevance, definitions, and ethical imperatives within organizational contexts.
 
  • To explore Theoretical Frameworks for Understanding EDI, including social justice theories, intersectionality, and cultural competence models.
 
  • To develop strategies for Creating Inclusive Organizational Cultures that promote equity, respect diversity, and foster belonging.
 
  • To equip students with skills in Assessing and Evaluating EDI Initiatives to measure impact, identify areas for improvement, and promote continuous learning and development.
