Dual Diagnosis: Assessment & Treatment
Description
In this course, students will construct a working knowledge of the mental health needs of children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Students will look at prevalence, etiology, and characteristics of mental health disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorders, personality disorders etc. In addition, the student will demonstrate the ability to monitor outcomes as it relates to the success of treatment or additional interventions, initiates strategies based on current research and trends, and to collaborate as part of an inter-professional team to collect data and to implement and support intervention strategies related to a person with a dual diagnosis.
