Disabilities Strategies II
Description
In this course, students will continue to examine the developmental effects, on children and adults, of having an exceptionality. Academic programming, the role of the educational assistant, and training techniques to teach fundamental life skills and activities in community settings are examined. Current inclusionary practices continue to be a focus of learning and discussion in both the school system and in society as a whole. Students will also examine the underlying cause and functions of behavior and learn positive strategies and approaches to change behavior. Students will cover the following exceptionalities: Emotional & Behavioral Disorders, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Orthopedic & Physical Impairments, Neurological Impairments & Medical Impairments. Further, students will develop programs and activities using the strategies studied in class.
